Memories of the Brumby Legacy

Whether strolling the cemetery, visiting the corner store, touring the museums, or walking the trails, spending your days in Marietta means finding history around every corner. At Brumby Lofts, that history starts right at home. Here at this very site, the Brumby Chair Company established its factory roots in the late 1870s as production flourished in Marietta. The Brumby Jumbo Rocker – the company’s most famous product – has been sold to thousands of households in the century and a half since. Perhaps most notably, President Jimmy Carter purchased several rockers for the Truman Balcony at the White House.

For over 60 years, the Brumby factory remained the center of manufacturing operations for the company, which sold the iconic landmark in the mid-1940s. It’s been remodeled, refurbished, and repurposed for a variety of other business ventures since. Even after so many years, this iconic factory location still flaunts the red brick exterior, original windows, and industrial features that nod to its storied past. The character and the spirit of innovation behind it remain at Brumby Lofts, bringing you the perfect background for your story to unfold in present day Marietta, Georgia.
